In India there is a saying- East is
spiritual, West is material, north is
meditative and south is speculative. This
is particularly true as far as
India is concerned.
East
is spiritual – Spiritualists and saints like Swami Chaitnya
Mahaprabu,
Rama Krishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda, Sri
Aurovindo Ghosh, Nirlamba Swami,
Lahiri Mahasaya,
Sri Yukteshwara Giri, Sohom Swami, various saints mentioned in
‘Autobiography of a yogi’, Swami Yogananda Paramahansa, Srila
Bhaktivedanta the
founder of Isckon, Gautam Buddha, Sri Mahavira
the founder of Jainism etc. all are from the east.
