Remember one can go to the astral world even when
one is alive. One need not wait till death comes and releases one from the
trappings of the gross body.
One just has to resolve to come out of this shell
made of the five elements and begin identifying with one’s subtle body from now
on. This resolve needs determination, patience and perseverance. Great souls
have for time immemorial achieved this stage through proper focus and
meditation.

Dacoit Ratnakar became Sage Valmiki when his
intelligence suddenly went under the control of the super soul. Similarly a
highway robber called Parakalan became Thirumangai Alwar when he was totally
spiritualized by his head touching the feet of lord almighty. One should
remember that it is always safe and easy to surrender oneself to god
unconditionally and live and act in this material world as per instructions of
the super soul. After all God is the creator of the whole material world
including us the living entities.

Suppose in this case the soul of the robber had
been taken over by the super soul. In that case the intelligence would not have
probably acted independently. Instead the soul would have guided the causal
body. In other words the spiritual side would have taken over the material

Now a robber will naturally have an intelligence
brimming with ideas to pull a job. These ideas will in turn be the fodder for
the robber’s mind to chew on.
One can very well imagine how the mind of a robber
will be. This mind will take its own sweet time to chew and masticate on the
ideas that originally took shape in the ‘fertile intelligence’ of the robber.
Once that process is over the mind will transfer the work-in-progress to the
greedy/avaricious/cruel and lusty senses of the same robber.

causal world and the senses from the astral world. It is the main conduit
through which ideas from intelligence pass to the senses.

The astral/subtle body is further divided into two-
senses and mind. The senses are broadly divided into five that is taste, touch,
smell, hear and see. This makes this subtle body far more complex than it
looks.
A permutation and combination of one or more of these senses gives birth

gross body.
But for one hankering after self realization this hitherto looking
simple thing becomes an uphill task more so because the student has henceforth
chosen to ignore the gross body & begun concentrating on just the
astral/subtle body.

by meditating on it (through subtle body). However if one just concentrates on
the gross body, one may lose control over the subtle & causal body or soul
above. There are numerous instances of huge men being vanquished by smaller
guys just because they concentrated on the super soul thus down under. Take the
example of David and Goliath. The enormous Goliath was killed by the punier and
younger David.

actually a dacoit called Ratnakar. Swami Yogananda Paramhansa started the
internationally famous society YSS at the early age of twenty. Swami
Bhaktivedanta had two heart attacks some time before he started ISCKON the
international society. Though seventy by then, he made 14 round the world
trips, wrote several spiritual books and built 108 Krshna temples around the
world all within the next 11 years. Mahatma Gandhi stopped a communal riot just
by his own presence in the midst of warring groups.

of getting lost in the infinite universe inside us. This habit of safe play

frustrated, scared, sad, hopeless and despondent.
