Looking at the ailing, hapless old man the kid wondered how this guy could invoke any amount of fear. Sympathy could be more apt at the present circumstance.

On cue the old man said ” Don’t look at this worn off shell of a body that is merely an excuse for my once robust and virile physique.’’

“ I was an active member of a mob of hot blooded youth which did not hesitate to perpetrate any crime known to man.”

On looking at the stunned face of the kid the old man continued ‘’ You were probably not even born when I had said goodbye to my sanguine and excessively horrible life as a gangster and a dacoit.”

The young boy was taken aback. The old man ignored this and continued “ I don’t know why I am saying all this to a stranger like you, but somehow I sincerely feel that my violent story must be told to the generations to come.”

There was this young inquisitive lad who was quite curious & intrigued by this old man’s plight of having countless boils all over his body which gave him endless pain.

Luckily one afternoon the old man had been properly medicated & was propped up on his bed. The nosy kid found it convenient to strike up a conversation with the ailing old man.

He promptly went up to that guy and inquired him the real cause for his sorry plight.

The wise old man smiled albeit weakly.

‘’Son” he managed to mumble “ I  sincerely thank lord almighty that he is putting me through this purgatory even in this life, before I die & land up in hell.’’

The devotee/reader will appreciate that though a person commits some foul act knowingly or unknowingly, howsoever carefully there are at least two witnesses to this act- one the super soul within and the perpetrator of the act himself/herself.

Example: In the year 1976 a gentleman who was around 60 even then was admitted to a hospital in a township in India, with a strange ailment.

This man had virtually countless boils that had gotten embedded all over his body between the wretched man’s skin & flesh so much so that every time he moved in his bed, a few of them got smashed thus giving birth to new boils which kept increasing in number endlessly.

The poor guy groaned & moaned all day & night long. The doctors and nurses wrung their hands in frustration even as they had to helplessly watch this guy going through unspeakable torment & pain. Much as they wanted to cure the guy, they could do little. Empathetically they prayed for his deliverance.

The others are various shades of grey.

Beginning with more material & less spiritual, at the ‘APATHY &

GRIEF” level they progress towards spiritualism slowly. ‘ JOY &

PEACE’ is the level where it is more spiritual than material.

’ SHAME & GUILT’ is totally material & ‘ENLIGHTENMENT’ is totally

spiritual.

The lower 16 vibrations in human psyche can be conveniently clubbed into one pair each more so because the quality of each item in each pair overlaps & compliments the other. 

The first one that is enlightenment being totally spiritual stays separately. The other 16 are at various shades of gray with materialism and spiritualism combined. 

As the individual entity climbs up the ladder from the bottom level of shame his/her materialism gets gradually eroded & spiritualism begins to take over.              

The pairs of qualities could be as follows:

Shame & guilt.                                        

Apathy & grief.

Fear & desire.

Pride & Anger.

Courage & neutrality.

Willingness & Acceptance.

Reason & love.

Joy & peace.

Enlightenment.

As has been shown in the list above the lowest level of vibration is shame. Beginning from the lowest level of shame at 20, the individual entity may if he/she so desires slowly but steadily climb up the ladder with steadfast perseverance till he/she reaches the ultimate form of enlightenment.

Each living entity possesses all these qualities with one or two at the front and the others going through various levels of dormancy.

The reader will notice that there are 17 levels in total. Beginning at the lowest rung of shame which reeks of rank materialism, the living entity can rise up to enlightenment which is totally spiritual.

As has been mentioned somewhere earlier the soul within every living entity sends continuous vibrations to the causal body made of intelligence. 

Intelligence grasps some of these and transforms them into ideas & relays them to the mind in the upper half of the subtle body. 

Again the mind grasps only those ideas that suits it and after chewing on them, relays them to the senses in the lower half of the subtle body. 

The vibrations get filtered yet again in the senses level and after being saddled with inputs from the senses, these vibrations get a final outlet through the gross body.

Guru Govind Singh the 10^th guru or spiritual teacher of the Sikhs, was seven feet tall and possessed extraordinary physical and mental prowess. This height and build was actually his spiritual strength. Guru Govind Singh was so physically strong that once he shot an arrow from near a spot near the present day red fort area in New Delhi, India. The arrow flew several kilometers till it fell near an area called RK Puram in New Delhi. So much so that, a Gurudwara was built at that very spot where the arrow fell.

Incidentally Guru Govind Singh left for his heavenly abode at the age of 40 after transforming the hitherto Sikhs from a peaceful and saintly people into a brave, courageous, ferocious and militant community.

A monk called Sohom swami became so extraordinarily strong and powerful that he could fight with wild tigers and was nicknamed tiger swami. He got all this prowess by concentrating mentally on health and strength.

Bheema Sena had to undergo several depravities as a Pandava prince in the Mahabharatha. But thanks to his spiritual strength he and his brothers could defeat the mighty Kauravas.                                *******************

Swami Lahiri Mahasaya went at 67 after introducing Kriya Yoga to the world.

Swami Yogananda Paramhansa went at 59 after establishing the international Yogoda Satsang Society {YSS}.
