In the Indian society the caste system has been popularized as follows:

Brahmin (Goodness mode.).

                        ↓

Ksatriya (Passion mode).

                        ↓

Vaisya (Passion + ignorance mode.).

                        ↓

Sudra ( Ignorance mode.)

In other words without any sort of prejudice to the individuals they have been divided into 4 categories according to their individual modes of material nature.
