The third and youngest brother of Dhratharashtra who despite being the wisest and most knowledgeable of all brothers was officially not recognized as noble because of his birth.
Vidura for that was his name was reduced to being an adviser to Dhratarashtra just because he was not of noble birth but was born to a maid servant.
Thus the poor man watched on helplessly as Dhrtarashtra slowly but steadily succumbed to the machinations of his brother-in-law Shakuni.
