During the churning of the milky way, by the
demigods on one side & the demons on the other, the first thing that was
extracted was a deadly poison called ‘’Halahala’’ which lord Shiva drank to
save humanity.
After that when the pot of nectar came the
God decided to give it to the moon god for safe keeping. There was a reason why
they did so.
Demigods are positive & Demons are negative energies. Demigods
are godly and conducive to humanity whereas Demons are not hence
God felt that something so priceless as
nectar should be with a demigod who will preserve it for the sake of living
beings, instead of with demons who would either consume it among themselves or
waste it otherwise.
When the demons protested against this what
they termed as unjust discrimination against them God felt that he/she had to
genuinely set things right.
