Srimad Bhagavatam
One should do one’s duty sincerely
regardless of one’s status in life.
One should surrender one’s actions
and the fruits of those actions to god.
One should be in the company of holy
people and should render service to them.
One should acquire a thirst for
righteousness, truth and freedom.
One should never injure another
creature.
One should ever be truthful and should
not covet other people’s wealth.
One should accept only that much
which is necessary for one’s daily needs.
One should practice self control and
self denial and lead a pure contented life.
One should be clean in body mind and soul.
One should study the scriptures with diligence.
One should select a secluded spot to
be used for meditation only.
One should sit with his body erect
but not tense.
One should then practice the control
of breath.
One’s mind should be gathered in
itself and should not be allowed to divert towards external objects.
The mind should be fixed on one of
the centers of consciousness within the body.
One should meditate on the divine
attributes.
Through this practice will come
remarkable spiritual growth.
By practice of pranayama one will get
excellent health.
On practicing pratyahara one will
stop getting attracted to external objects.
Practice of concentration will bring
purity of heart.
Meditation will unite one’s self with
the divine.
Thus one will always dwell in god
consciousness.
And one will find divine love.
