Srimad Bhagavatam
One cannot practice yoga with
developing a love for god.
Love which is divine is expressed
differently by different individuals as per their evolution.
Those who have hatred, jealously,
pride and anger express their love to god in a selfish manner. This love is
ignorant and is called Tamasika.
Then there is the Rajasika or passionate
love where the individuals love god to fulfill their material ends.
But when one loves god for the sake
of love alone and when one offers oneself wholeheartedly to god that is Satavika
love which is in the form of goodness.
But when the lover, the love and the beloved
become one, when one loves every one as a self in every being, when one loves
everyone because one sees god in all, that is divine love.
When this divine love fills one’s
heart one transcends this material love and gets united with Brahman.
To achieve this divine love one
should work without a thought of reward.
One’s work should turn into worship.
One should worship god, chant his
name and think about him all the time.
One should see god in all beings,
revere great sages and be kind and friendly to all.
Thus one will attain the kingdom of
heaven.
