Srimad Bhagavatam
Though Prakriti is undifferentiated,
she is the cause of all differentiation.
Prakriti consists of three Gunas viz.
Satwik (Goodness), Rajasik (Passion) and Tamasik (Ignorance).
When these gunas are in equilibrium
they remain in the state of Prakriti.
But when they lose that equilibrium
the universe is formed.
The Purusha is formless, without
attributes and changeless.
The Purusha is also called Nirguna.
Just like the sun is reflected in the water
but is not affected by the water similarly the
Purusha lives in the body but is
not affected by its actions.
However when the Purusha identifies
with the three gunas, it identifies with the body and so starts thinking that
it is the performer of actions.
And when it thinks so, the Purusha is
subjected to Karma and repeated births and deaths.
When the mind gets attracted to the
things in the world, attachment to material world happens.
This attachment is followed by a
desire to possess the thing.
The small desire gets stronger and
becomes lust or greed.
With this greed comes fear of
competition.
This fear quickly converts into
anger.
Anger is the cause of illuision.
And illusion gives birth to false
ego.
To avoid all miseries one should
meditate upon God all the time.
