To be fair it has to be accepted that while the spirit soul is the superior energy of the lord, the matter as such in the universe is the inferior energy of god. The permutation & combination of the collective actions of individual souls aimed at each other and in their perpetual pursuit of lording it over material nature is the basis for all confusion.

The second is the individual soul which is actually a spark from the spiritual whole & possesses all its qualities but is too tiny to have the required effect, individually.

This is just like a spark from a huge fire. The spark has all the heat of the fire except the power to do any considerable damage. On an average it gets extinguished in milliseconds.

However these individual sparks that is the individual souls inhabit every living entity right from the tallest tree down to the smallest blade of grass. 

Every living entity has one individual soul.

There are broadly 5 aspects of a living entity who inhabits this universe.

At the top is the super soul which is the witness to all because it is essentially the localized form of the lord almighty & pervades everything tangible, intangible, movable, immoveable, living or stagnant. 

The super soul is present everywhere right from the highest mountain to the lowest particle of dust.

Enlightenment is the final stage of vibration and it is totally spiritual. Blessed is the living entity that reaches this level.

When the devotee reaches the soul level & realizes his/her true self, the soul finally acknowledges that it has all the time been a part & parcel of the super soul within.

From the causal world the next step is a quantum leap towards the soul. The soul is totally spiritual. The living entity who is totally surrendered to god gets a divine spiritual enlightenment which is the final step towards self realization.

Synopsis

Let us take all this as vibrations the devotee experiences during his/her voyage towards self realization.

Till now he/she has reached the astral level. From now it is a slow & steady glide tow

ards the causal body.

Causal body is made up of pure intelligence which transforms vibrations from the soul into ideas, before relaying the same to the astral body of mind & senses.

The causal body is free of any Vasanas. Vasanas are unfulfilled material desires. 

The individual who has unfulfilled Vasanas is incapable of reaching the causal world.

Synopsis

All this is when the living entity has not even reached the mind level in the astral plane.

You may have to accept albeit grudgingly that though such self contained guys are confusing & perplexing even irritating, they seldom get into any controversy or trouble.

Finding immense joy within, these entities invariably cherish a desire to delve within sooner or later. This inevitably takes them to the spiritual side of life.  

When such an event occurs a strange hitherto undetected & unexplained peace pervades the psyche of the individual. 

This might explain how monks/sages/ascetics spend days/weeks/months meditating on god, and when they do come back to terra firma, they churn out epics/scriptures/hymns etc.

Joy especially the spiritual one comes from within & in many cases for those who are still on the material plane for reasons unexplained. It could be for working out one’s Karma.

When a person begins to peep into the universe within, he/she comes across a hitherto unexplored expanse. For the first time he/she finds that he/she need not look into this big bad world, and/or search for company when he/she can spend his/her lifetime, roaming within. This suddenly sends forth a gush of relief which slowly transforms into joy.

Synopsis

Swami Chinmayananda has gone on record narrating his experiences with meeting Ramana Maharishi. He says that probably the greatest spiritual inspiration he ever received  was when he met Ramana  Maharishi once at the early age of 12.

According to Swami Chinmayananda, as he sat along with a group of devotees, Ramana Maharishi just looked at him speechlessly. His eyes bore into Swami Chinmayananda and the young boy almost shuddered.

What the kid probably did not realize then was that Ramana Maharishi was probably in a trance and that he had from his astral vision, peered into Swamiji’s astral self whose existence the young boy was not even aware of. Probably this was the reason for the unexplained & uncontrolled shivering.

Whereas the material side concentrates on sending feelings to the senses, the spiritual side baulks the ideas coming from the causal body of intelligence and redirects them to a channel which passes through the same causal body with an aim to hit the soul.

The evolved saints & monks sooner or later go into a perpetual trance where in their material body is very much present in the terra firma but the mind is either roaming in the universe within or in the astral world.

From the stage of joy & peace spiritual side has grossly overtaken the material side. Joy here is totally spiritual. The living entity has shrunk himself/herself into himself/herself. It is then that the living entity begins to enjoy his/her own company.

As has been mentioned somewhere earlier, the astral body is divided into two halves. The lower one regulates senses. The upper half is the mind. Even here the mind has been divided into two, of which one part handles the material side & the other part concentrates on the spiritual side.

God himself/herself likes to discuss various spiritual aspects with his/her devotees. After all god has himself/herself acknowledged that he/she is incomplete without his/her devotees.

Other examples of love for God:

1.  Nirvikalpa Samadhi is a most highly coveted form of devotion where a devotee is supposed to remember god all the time.

2.   During a spiritual discourse Sage Bhrigu took up an assignment to find out who is the noblest among the triumvirate. This was nothing if not unconditional love for god.

3.  There have been saints like Purandharadasa, Tyagaraja, Tukaram etc. who have sung songs/hymns eulogizing god.

4.  Devotees get into holy communion with god through meditation.

5.  There have been numerous instances where devotees complained to & fought with idols of god and demanded his/her intervention to quell their sorry state. One such case was when Swami Yogananda Paramhansa cried and protested to god when his mother died.

Examples of pure spiritual love:

1.  Sabari tasted the fruits before giving them to her beloved Rama, who gladly accepted them despite they being polluted by her saliva.

2.  A prostitute offered conjugal pleasure to lord Krishna because this was the only offering she could make to god as a devotee.

3.  Draupadi just remembered lord Krishna when she was being humiliated, and he came to her rescue.

4.  One ardent devotee was not permitted to enter a temple. When he prayed fervently, lord came to him instead.

5.  Mahatma Gandhi was so devout that he remembered the lord even when he was shot.

Spiritualism

There is no special qualification or physical/mental advantage necessary to love god. 

Just pure, unselfish devotion is enough.

There are various holy libraries & organizations where detailed research is being done continuously to understand the scriptures’ inner meanings.

Similarly love for god is expected to be pure/holy/transcendental/unconditional. Love for god is actually a feeling gradually developed by a devotee on his/her voyage towards self realization.

2    Swami Yogananda Parmhansa introduced the world to Kriya yoga through his international organization YSS.

                

3.Swami Vivekananda started the Ramakrishna Mission.

                 

4.Sri Aurovindo Ghosh started Aurovindo Ashram an international organization, in Pondicherry,

                     India.

                          

5.    Swami Bhaktivedanta started & developed the international organization ISCKON. He also wrote several religious & spiritual books.

                          

6 .Several kings, emperors, godmen, saints have built temples, churches, etc. and established shrines & spiritual organizations.

Synopsis

Other examples of devotion to god:

1 .Srimathi Radharani and other gopis surrendered themselves totally thanks to their conjugal love for god.

2. Lord Hanuman the monkey god rendered service to god as servant of god.

3. Meerabai despite being married, mentally accepted lord Krishna as a spouse thanks to her  conjugal love for god.

        4.  Several sages/siddhas/monks have written countless       

             scriptures & hymns eulogizing god.

4.  The ailing Sukhadeva Goswami a disciple of Chaitnya Mahaprabhu wrote Chaitnya Charitamrata.

5.  Draupadi & the five Pandavas worked out their karma as friends of god.

Synopsis

Regardless of the type of devotion, every devotee gets his/her opportunity to love god and reach self realization.

On an average men tend to choose the servant of god & women choose conjugal love form of devotion though there may be exceptions. 

Saintly love, parental love & friendly love are applicable to both sexes.

According to holy scriptures there are five basic types of devotion to god. A devotee according to his innate nature takes to one of these five forms of devotion.

These five forms are:

Saintly love.

Servant of god.

Parental love.

2.  The Hindu saints have seldom missed an opportunity to praise other religions & their saints.

3.  Bhakti Vedanta Swami the founder of ISCKON has eulogized several saints & godmen in his numerous books.

4.  Shirdi Satya Sai Baba who was a Hindu godman always said ALLAH MALIK, ie. Allah is the master.

5.  Even in our epics Lord Rama an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, worshipped lord Shiva in Rameshwaram before going to battle demon Ravana.

6.  Even here the head priest who presided over the ceremony was Ravana himself.

7.  Lord Hanuman the monkey god who is supposed to be an incarnation of lord Shiva, assisted lord Rama in the battle.

8.  Lord Krishna the supreme personality of godhead suggested his best friend, cousin & disciple Arjuna that he should worship & meditate on lord Shiva.

9.  Lord Parasurama an incarnation of Lord Vishnu was an ardent devotee of lord Shiva.

10.      Sankaracharya who was supposed to be an incarnation of lord Shiva advised his followers to worship Lord Govinda.   

All these examples suggest that when one reaches the level of courage in psychic vibration, neutrality is not far behind.

1.  Alexander the great appreciated when his arch rival & prisoner Porus demanded royal treatment from him.

2.  Chanakya the genius appointed his own arch rival Rakshas as prime minister of emperor Chandra Gupta Maurya his own protégé.

3.  Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru took opposition leader Atal Bihari Bajpayee with him to a foreign mission.

4.  Boxer Mohammad Ali openly praised his arch rivals Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Larry Holmes & Oscar Bonavena.

5.  Arnold Schwarzenegger the Mr. Universe body builder, offered to bear rival body builder Mike Mentzer’s medical expenses.

6.  Boxer Mike Tyson always went to help his own rivals during boxing bouts.

7.  Boxers Frank Bruno & Michael Spinks openly complimented Boxer Mike Tyson for his strength.

8.  During tennis matches rivals are known to shake hands.

9.  Business man Aditya Vikram Birla openly complimented another business man Rahul Bajaj.

10.      Even in our epic Mahabharata the valiant Karna could have killed the other four pandavas Yudishtira, Bheema, Nakula, Sahadeva but he pardoned them.

Thus the examples are many. There have been numerous instances where people sacrificed their material opulence in search of the actual meaning of life.

As mentioned before the next step from courage is neutrality.    

When one develops material/spiritual courage he/she develops an innate confidence that he she is born to achieve something material or spiritual. 

Such people develop a strange form of neutrality over their counter parts, competitors & contemporaries. 

The negative qualities like envy, jealousy, suspicion, vindictiveness, anger, hatred etc. vanish and they look at things in a wider perspective. 

Seeing god in all, they develop a broader vision which makes them both empathetic as well as tolerant towards others.

1.

  Swami Janakananda an American succeeded Swami Yogananda Paramahansa as head of YSS. He is revered all over the world.

2.  Daya Mata a Mormon succeeded Janakananda as head of YSS and guided it till as a most beloved motherly saint she reached her heavenly abode at age 99.

3.  Jesus Christ the king of Christianity was just 32 when he was crucified but who had by then started an international religion.

4.  Swami Vivekananda reached heaven at forty but was already an internationally revered saint who started the Ramakrishna Mission.

5.  Even Ramakrishna Paramhamsa gave up his whole life worshipping goddess Kali.

6.  Sri Aravindo Ghosh left his ICS exam to become a lawyer, and then exhibited immense material courage by becoming a radical terrorist. But he spiritualized the same courage by starting the internationally renowned Aravindo Ashram in Pondicherry, India.

7.  Swami Sriyukteshwara Giri spent all his wealth in setting up Ashrams.

8.  Ramana Maharishi spent all his life in search of universal truth.
