The true
devotee must be like a swan. When the swan drinks water, it has the innate
capacity to take what it needs from the liquid and spit out the rest.
The
lotus flower blooms invariably in a swamp but here too it takes the pure water
for its nutrition and does not allow the dirt in the swamp to touch it.
Similarly
the devotee though living in this big bad world should not allow it to spoil
him/her and take only godly things for him/ herself to progress towards self
realization.
