Pitra Bhakti (Parental love) is
where the devotee treats god as a child and wants to mother or father him.
Examples of this noble devotion are Yashoda, Devaki, Nand, Vasudev, Kaushlya,
Sumitra, Kaikeyi, Dashrat, etc.
Mitra Bhakti (Friendly love) is
where god is considered a very dear friend. Examples are the Gopa kumaras of
the holy Vrindavana, Sudama, Pandavas, etc.
Vatsalya Bhakti (Conjugal love) is a
very high and pure form of devotion where the devotee takes god as a lover.
This is mostly a feminine form of devotion. The best examples are the Gopikas
of Vrindavan, Srimati Radharani,
Rukmini, Satyabama, the numerous wives of lord Krshna, Sita etc.
The absolute love for god is divine
and is called devotion.
