Remember you can possess wealth but wealth should never possess you. This is 

called detachment and renunciation. Similarly your gross body should obey your 

subtle body which should in turn obey the causal body which must obey the soul 

which should necessarily be dovetailed to the super soul ie. God. A person who 

has achieved this becomes liberated and blissful.

Remember the moment you detach yourself from this body and abide in your consciousness you will at once become blissful, peaceful happy and free from bondage. 

Meditation is one method of detaching oneself from the body. This is called Jiwan mukti (Detaching oneself from the body even during the life.)

If you aspire for liberation eschew objects of senses as poison and crave for truth, 

forgiveness, straight forwardness, kindness and cheerfulness as nectar. You are 

self, mere witness to the happenings in the universe as pure consciousness. The 

gross body is merely a tool for the subtle and causal bodies to express themselves. 

An idea that germinates in the intellect, starts a thought process in the mind 

which result in the senses becoming active. These three causal and subtle bodies 

use the gross body made of ether/air/fire/water/earth to give ultimate vent to 

their ideas and feelings.

When the supreme self gets identified with the body it becomes the limited ego. 

The body consists of the gross body made up of ether, air, fire, water and earth, 

the subtle body consisting of the senses and the mind and the causal body is made 

up of intelligence. When the ego begins thinking that it is this body, it becomes 

entangled in unlimited births and deaths. This illusion ends with the knowledge 

of the truth and subsequent emergence of true Brahman which is infinite.

Remember that just like those who wear shoes to protect their feet are not hurt 

by thorns lying on the road,  similarly those who are learned and are contented 

under all conditions are never hurt by the thorns lying on the path of life.

True monks and sages have a childlike innocence and lack of guile. Remember 

that god does not pardon those who knowingly harm children, god’s sincere 

devotees, genuinely guileless and innocent people and monks. Even if these 

people personally pardon their tormentor, the guilty are sooner or later victims 

of nemesis.

Human birth is where a person thanks to his/ her deeds enjoys upper or lower 

births after death. It is also the gateway for complete liberation. When man 

develops a taste for looking within, he finds absolute bliss and peace. Remember 

those who try to hoard wealth seldom enjoy it themselves.

There is a saying ‘One who is protected by god cannot be killed or destroyed….’’

The body is like a chariot with senses as its horses, mind as the rein and intelligence is the charioteer. The vital energies are the wheels, virtue and vice are the spokes, the path which is made up of the objects of the senses, form the road.  

The ego is the rider. Anger, hatred, jealousy, sorrow, greed, delusion, pride and thirst for life are enemies along the road.  When the rider brings the chariot under his/her control he/she enjoys divine bliss.

True knowledge burns away all evil. One should develop love for god. Even a most sinful man is purified if he/she surrenders to god unconditionally.

Just like fire remains hidden in the wood, the self remains hidden in the body and is revealed only by deep contemplation and meditation. The power of self is infinite.

If a person commits crimes in a life and dies without suffering the 

consequences, the person gets back the results of those karma in his/her next 

birth with interest. What you sow so you reap. Every action has an equal and 

opposite reaction. What you say or do comes back to you with interest.

Remember only one in a million is genuine in this world. Be good to him or her all the time. If you are careless this one person will leave you and the remaining will tear you apart.

The only way for you to make sure that this person never leaves you is by becoming that one in a million yourself.

Human beings get into the rut of the material world and go into a vicious cycle of repeated births 

and death till they meditate on god and come out of this wheel of time. Then they realize finally 

that they are nothing but the divine self. Mind is the abode of all miseries like disease, old age, 

poverty, hunger, lust, greed and anger etc. You are judged by the company you keep. Hence 

always keep divine company.

Human birth is blessed. One should not waste it by hankering after carnal pleasures. 

For them meditation is the highest activity. Association with and service to holy people opens the kingdom of god. One should keep away from selfish desires and be equally poised amidst all oppositions. One should love everyone and practice truth. 

One should control speech, prefer solitude and meditate on lord.

Pitra Bhakti (Parental love) is where the devotee treats god as a child and wants to mother or father him. Examples of this noble devotion are Yashoda, Devaki, Nand, Vasudev, Kaushlya, Sumitra, Kaikeyi, Dashrat, etc.

Mitra Bhakti (Friendly love) is where god is considered a very dear friend. Examples are the Gopa kumaras of the holy Vrindavana, Sudama, Pandavas, etc.

Vatsalya Bhakti (Conjugal love) is a very high and pure form of devotion where the devotee takes god as a lover. This is mostly a feminine form of devotion. The best examples are the Gopikas of Vrindavan, Srimati  Radharani, Rukmini, Satyabama, the numerous wives of lord Krshna, Sita etc.

The absolute love for god is divine and is called devotion.

Sant Bhakti (Saintly love) is where the devotee, thinks about god all the time and composes and chants hymns and builds temples on his favorite god’s form. Examples of such devotees are Saint Tukaram, Saint Purandhradasa, etc.

Dasa Bhakti (Servant of god) is where the devotee prefers to be the lord’s slave who obeys god’s orders without questioning and performs herculean tasks for the sake of god and in service to humanity in general. This is essentially a masculine form of devotion. The best example is Lord Hanuman the monkey god.

Other more human are Mahavtar Babaji, Yogavatar Lahiri Mahasaya, Gyanavtar Sriyukteshwara giri, Premavatar Paramhansa Yogananda, Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami the founder of Isckon, Sohom Swami etc. are servants of god.

To practice meditation one should  select a secluded spot, sit there with his back erect but not tense, withdraw his mind from sense objects, and concentrate only on god by withdrawing into a shell within the body. Practice Pranayama (breathing in breathing out steadily) for that is the key towards concentration on the divine and good health.

There are broadly five categories of devotion to god namely Sant Bhakti (saintly devotion),  Dasa Bhakti (Devotion as servant of god),  Pitra Bhakti (Parental love for god),  Mitra Bhakti (Devotion as a friend) and Vatsalya Bhakti (Conjugal love for god).

Whereas all five are divine and noble, yet whereas Dasa Bhakti (Servant of god) is mostly by male devotees, Vatsalya Bhakti (Conjugal love) is mostly a preserve of the female devotees.

One should always do ones duty faithfully regardless of one’s condition in life. 

One should surrender all one’s deeds to god. You should take an eager thirst for righteousness, truth and freedom. 

One should be moderate in eating, drinking and recreation and practice nonviolence. 

One should not covet wealth of others. Accept only for your daily needs. Practice self control and self denial.

Mind is the main cause of bondage for the otherwise free soul. This bondage is freed when one is in love with god.

One should be moderate in eating, drinking and recreation. One should walk the path of solitude. One should seek peace within one’s heart. One should refrain from finding fault in others.

Tapas or meditation is the route to reaching god. Even lord Brahma took this route to converse with god and to seek permission for creating this universe.

When man/woman becomes a Renunciant he/she develops a love for the divine. This love is the nectar for true liberation. One thus frees oneself from all miseries.    

The yoga that teaches one of the unity with the divine self is the highest. It ends all misery.

On the other hand if the yogi has centered his vital energies between the 

eyebrows but still has some desires left then he associates himself with the 

mind and the senses. Slowly he passes through various planets or lokas till he 

reaches the Brahmaloka. There he is ultimately freed of all desires and 

realizes his unity with Brahman. Here he reaches the position of no more 

births and deaths. This is called gradual liberation.

A true yogi, at the time of death, becomes totally tranquil by sitting in a yoga posture, and with heart purified and is mind under control realizes Brahman.

Ready to give up his life the Yogi allows the vital energies to pass away through the solar plexus (Manipura), then through the heart (Anahata), and then through the throat (Vishudha) and finally through the middle of the two eyebrows (Ajna).

Here either of the two things can happen. If he has reached the state of desire less ness then he realizes the Brahman and his vital energies reach the thousand petal lotus centre in the brain called the gateway to Brahman. 

Then the yogi realizing his unity with Brahman, separates himself from his senses, sense organs, the mind and the body and passes away. Thus he achieves absolute freedom. This is called immediate liberation.

Man is divine and full of consciousness. Due to the camouflage of the material world he has forgotten this. When he realizes his true self he shines in the light of his own glory.  

All the holy scriptures, whether it is the holy Quran, the holy Bible, or Srimad Bhagwad Gita all preach love and devotion for god and a total surrender unto him. One should surrender the fruits of all Karma to god.

To reach god one should relinquish all material desires. Those moments when we think of god are the most precious. All others are waste.

God is the refuge and strength of all. Meditating on god is the right way to cut the threads of evil karma. A mind purified by love for god becomes holy. The wise find eternal joy in chanting the holy name of god.

Human beings should be like water. Water finds its level. It changes its color and shape according to circumstances. Water takes the shape of the vessel it is poured, whether it is a pot, a bottle, or a drum. It also changes color according to circumstances. Liquor and milk both are water.

A sleeping human being does not know that he/she is asleep. Similarly a truly meditative person is totally unaware that  he/she is meditating.

Man becomes holy just by uttering the name of the lord, by singing his praises and chanting about his divine pastimes. 

By one surrendering to him totally one becomes a monk. 

One should develop unselfish love for god. Vain is the heart which craves for spirituality but does not have love for god. Religion is contemplation and humble inquiry into the truth. 

HARE KRSHNA HARE RAMA

Never ever harm any living entity knowingly. This is against the laws of nature. Remember ‘as you sow so you reap’. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Good deeds beget good results and the bad once get bad consequences.

The ignorant human being mistakes a rope for a snake. Similarly we mistake this universe as something other than the self.

South is speculative – One of the most important rules of speculation is ‘HEDGING’. 

Professional speculators usually hedge their bets by investing their limited funds into various shares, commodities, scrips, debentures and bonds just to play it safe. If one side falls the others will help keep the balance.

Some religious people regardless of where they belong are humble and noble souls who sincerely believe that as  they themselves are inferior to gods, demigods and godmen, they have to appease them all by worshiping them.

Lord Venkatachalapati’s Thirupathi is in south. Puttaparthi Saibaba, and Swami Raghavendra belong to south. Tamilnadu in south is well known the world over for its temples. The three districts of Tamilnadu, namely Madurai, Kumbakonam, and Kanchipuram boast of at least 500 temples big, medium and small each. Besides the numerous temples in the state it is said that numerous of them are being built even now.

Rameshwaram is a religious place in Tamilnadu, visited by devotees from all over the country. Swami Vivekananda was a Bengali but his rock memorial is in Kanyakumari in Tamilnadu. Sri Aurovindo Ghosh was a Bengali but his Ashram is in Pondicherry in south. Ramana Maharishi’s Ashram is in Tamilnadu. 

The other southern states namely Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalseema, Karnataka, and Kerala are all famous for their numerous temples and shrines. 

There are temples for various gods and demigods in Tamilnadu and devotees worship in all of them regardless of caste or creed. There are Hindus including my humble self who have lit candles in churches.

Devotees in south just want to worship regardless of who the worshipped is.

North is meditative – Meditation is a form of mental Yoga. Lord Shiva 

is called Yogaraj that is king of Yoga. Lord Shiva is perpetually in 

Mount Kailash which is a part of the Himalayas. 

Himalayas the greatest mountain ranges in the world are in the north 

of India.

Monks, sages and spiritualists have for time immemorial used the 

numerous caves in the mighty Himalayas to meditate on god. In fact 

the spiritual kingdom of Sambhala is supposed to be 

located there.

Yogavatar Lahiri Mahasaya met Mahavatar Babaji near a cave in 

Himalayas in 1861. And that was the beginning of Kriya Yoga. Sohom 

Swami aka Tiger Swami met his own spiritual teacher Swami Tibeti 

Baba and came to Himalayas to meditate. Later he constructed two 

Ashrams on the foothills of the mountain ranges in Nainital and 

Almora. It was in the Ashram in Almora that he 

met Nirlamba Swami.

Swami Pranabananda built an Ashram in or near the Himalayas.

It is said that even now some highly advanced sages are in the 

Himalayas in their subtle bodies.

Two extremely religious places Haridwar (doorway to god) and 

Hrishikesh (Lord Krshna) are at the foot of Himalayas. Other religious 

areas are Allahabad, and Varanasi aka Kashi which are in 

Uttarpradesh which is north India.

The holy Kumbh fair which takes place every twelve years takes place 

in Allahabad and Hrishikesh.

West is material - Rajasthan, Gujarat, Sindh and Mumbai, where business 

and commerce thrive belong to west of India. Four major Merchantile and 

business communities namely Parsis, 

Marwaris, Gujaratis and Sindhis belong to the west of India. Tatas, Nusli 

Wadia, and Godrej belong to the Parsi communities. Business men and 

Industrialists like Birlas, Singhanias, Dalmias, Bajaj, Goenkas, Khaitans, 

Laxmi Mittal, Ruias, Toshniwals etc. are Marwaris.

Walchand Hirachand, Mafatlal, Ambani, Bharat/Viju Shah etc. are Gujaratis. 

Hindujas, Mirchandanis, Moolchandanis, Manu Chabria etc. are Sindhis. 

Kirloskers, Garware etc. areMaharashtrians but then Mumbai is the capital 

of Maharashtra.
 

Spiritualism

In India there is a saying- East is spiritual, West is material, north is 

meditative and south is speculative. This is particularly true as far as 

India is concerned.

East is spiritual – Spiritualists and saints like Swami Chaitnya 

Mahaprabu, Rama Krishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda, Sri 

Aurovindo Ghosh, Nirlamba Swami, Lahiri Mahasaya, 

Sri Yukteshwara Giri, Sohom Swami, various saints mentioned in 

‘Autobiography of a yogi’, Swami Yogananda Paramahansa, Srila 

Bhaktivedanta the founder of Isckon, Gautam Buddha, Sri Mahavira 

the founder of Jainism etc. all are from the east.
