KNOW YOURSELF

1.  The self is all pervading, perfect, non dual, free, consciousness, action less, all pervading unattached, desire less and quiet. Nothing is added to the post to make one feel that it is a ghost. As the perceiver –feeler-thinker-entity the individual false ego gets entrapped in a body and then bound by the wheels of Karma it goes through a web of unending births and deaths.

KNOW YOURSELF

1.  One who thinks that he is free is free indeed, and one who considers himself bound, suffers from bondage. As one thinks so he becomes. Mind is the cause of the state or bondage of a person.

Know Yourself

1.  You are the supreme consciousness and bliss. The universe is superimposed on this like a snake on a rope. In the darkness one considers the rope as a snake and acts accordingly. Similarly the misapprehension of the self is the main reason of our identifying with the body.

KNOW YOUR SELF

1.  You are bitten by the black serpent of the thought that you are the doer. This is the cause of your bondage. You should drink the nectar of the fact that you are not the doer and be happy.

1.  Happiness and distress, virtue and vice are all the attributes of the body and the mind. You are neither the doer nor the enjoyer. You are ever free. You are the seer of all that happens around you.

1.  When you detach yourself from the gross, subtle and causal body and begin identifying with the self you at once become happy. Meditation is one way of achieving this end. We should possess the objects of the earth but we should not allow these objects to possess us. We should eat food but should not allow the food to eat us.

1.  You are not any one of the five elements of your body that is the ether, the air, the fire, the water or the earth. You are the self which is the pure embodiment of consciousness. The combination of these five elements makes the gross body and the mind and intellect within make the subtle body. A desire first sprouts as a thought disturbance in the mind which then with the connivance of the intelligence snowballs into a flow of continuous ideas. This desire is ultimately satisfied by the gross body. These are all apart from the pure self. Just as the sun illuminates the objects in a room, similarly the self or the consciousness illuminates the gross, subtle and causal bodies. This self is realized when we meditate.

A perpetual thought flow is called mind and because of such varied thoughts the mind becomes uncontrollable. The sense objects are like poisonous weeds which are all around us and from whom there is no escape. The only way to come out of them is DAMA or SENSE CONTROL or VEDANTAM. Logically speaking when you are attracted to the senses, your mind becomes agitated, and when you think about the good thinks and god, you at once become cheerful.

During this period I wrote stories and published them in Amazon Kindle. I also 

continued to do exercises and tried Yoga. I went to a place called Palmaner in 

Andhra Pradesh thrice for treatment. I continued my medicines. I was not in a 

position to attend any function including that of my father’s first death 

anniversary. I had to wear my brother’s and my nephew’s clothes.

On May 1^st 2015, we shifted from Thiruvanmiyur to Velachery just because I 

needed a ground floor flat and my brother lived in the same block. A new lady 

attendant was put for me and I started walking, and slowly began to go to the 

washroom, brush my teeth, wear my clothes etc. The name of the lady was 

Mrs. Margadam. She left in September 2015. By then I had begun taking bath 

and shaving regularly. On my birthday 15^th November, 23^rd November, and 

30^th November of the same year there was a heavy downpour in Chennai. I 

and my mother escaped to my brother’s flat in Chennai. My flat in Ramapuram 

which was in ground floor almost drowned. Our tenant and we lost lacs of Rs. 

in property and papers. It was horrible. Several people in the state lost their 

lives and property.

Initially my position was like that of a baby. I used to wear an adult diaper, 

wet the bed, urinated in a bottle, used a commode, could not even stand up, 

and my right leg was horribly swollen. I could not talk properly, everyone was 

fed up with me, and one company sent attendants who kept changing. Slowly I 

began walking, and using a stick. I fell down many a time. My mother used to 

feed me. I felt like it was the end of the world, and kept weeping often. Many 

friends and relatives came to see me.

My left side and my voice were paralyzed. I could not even get up. My brother 

and mother had to go through hell. All of us kept weeping all the time and 

asking why destiny had been so cruel to us. This experience taught us a lot. 

My brother arranged for an attendant, a physiotherapist and a voice therapist 

for me. He also got me a walking stick. My journey through hell proceeded 

further.

I was admitted in the CCU of Apollo hospital. I was in Coma for three days. 

The doctors predicted that I am likely to die. From CCU I was shifted to ICU and 

then general ward. It was like some unknown power had slapped me without any reason. I 

sincerely wished that I was dead. I had to beg the hospital ward boy to take 

me 

on a round in wheel chair, give me a bath etc. We shifted home on 28^th March 

2015.

On 14^th March 2015, at around 8 am I got up from bed, felt faint, went to the 

bathroom and swooned, taking the wash basin with me. My brother was in 

Trichy and my nephew had just then landed in California. Only my mother, 

some relatives and my sister- in- law where there to help me. The attack came 

without any hint. I was perfectly alright till the night before.

In the month of June 2014 my nephew got married.  On 5TH February 2014 

my neice  Deepika got married. On 18^th November 2014, 3days after my 56^th 

birthday my father left for his heavenly abode. On 6^th February 2015 my 

nephew got married. On 15^th February 2015 another neice got married. On 

14^th March 2015 I got a stroke which paralyzed my right side.

In the year 2008, in the month of February I got a job as manager content in a 

channel. I translated two Tamil serials into Hindi, made TRP/GRP weekly 

reports, made appointment letters for the staff, acted in the shows, took 

photographs for B roles, prepared reports for various projects, etc. In the year 

2011 I handled the accounts of a Bhojpuri film. In 2013 I acted in a television 

serial, and published two books.

I got married in 2000. In 1999 I got a job as a general manager in  a German 

export firm. I did everything other than production in that firm and the firm 

made a net profit of Rs. 50 lacs. I did a play, and a role in a television serial. In 

2001 I purchased a flat in Ramapuram. I also dubbed for serials and films, and 

attended several forums. In 2003 I shifted there. In 2004 -2005 I did a 

correspondence course in Journalism.

I was in the company till March 1995.  In July 1995 I went to the lending library 

and saw a book called ’Science of self realization’ by Bhaktivedanta. My 

spiritual life began then. I worked with one Mr. Satish Khurana and then as 

accountant cum assistant director for one Mr. Ashu Trikha upto 14^th January 

1999. From Dombivili I shifted to Gorai and then Saat Bunglow in 1998. I 

came 

to Chennai for good in January 1999

In 1989 I landed a job in one TOSHNIWAL Group. On 17^th March and in 

August I did two plays in Hindi. I shook hands with Dilip Kumar and saw Saira 

Banu , camera man Ravichandran, Cho, and actress Shiela. On 1^st January 

1990 I got a job in Mumbai. I got a house on 5^th July and saw actors Anil 

Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Rakesh Bedi, Satish Shah and Amrish Puri. 15^th 

November is my birthday. On 16^TH 7 top gangsters were shot dead by the 

police in Mumbai. It was the year 1991 and 16th was a Saturday.

For the next three years I lived only to become a CA. In 1982 May I passed 

my 

first group. I got my first job as an accounts assistant in an export firm. I would 

end up a the General manager of another export firm in Chennai 25 years 

later. I also worked in a hotel for some time. Later I got a job in a company 

which sold technical standards. My brother got married in 1985. In the year 

1987 my nephew was born and my father retired. We came to Chennai (then 

Madras) in 1988.

On July 19^th 1978 when I boarded the train to Delhi I made a promise to 

myself 

that henceforth I shall make no friends. Srinivasan was the first friend I made. 

In the month of March 1979 I and Srinivasan saw Mrs. Indira Gandhi who had 

come to our locality. In the month of May 1980 I wrote one group. In the month 

of December 1980 I went to Kolkatta for a conference. When I returned I was 

dismayed to find that our house was having a white wash. From July 1977 I 

began suffering from water in the lungs which was called pluerasy.

 On August 31 1978 I joined the CA firm as an article clerk. In September I 

and 

my mother went to Chennai to meet my brother. I the same September I 

began 

writing books of accounts for one VK Mehta in Shakti Nagar, Delhi. My first 

entry was in the sales journal ‘ QUALITY COLOR CARTON – 100 Rs sale of 

PA3T Gum, and 7 Rs. Tax.’ From the month of December I began studying 

very hard. In the month of May 1979 I made a friend called Y.SRINIVASAN 

who was a CA Student like me.

As I had got a first division in my B.Com  my father insisted that I should do 

C.A. which I was not cut out for. We landed in a place called Janakpuri where I 

came across a short and very strong man who could lift pieces of luggage 

which could be only dragged by 8 people together. The first few months were 

spent casually. And then I joined one Mr. Rangarajan as article clerk. Actually I 

wanted to join another firm but did not get a seat.

The year 1978 was very important in our family. My father got a promotion and

 I was a singer in my childhood. When I was in my ninth standard, I went to a 

singing competition which conducted by my school in Sagar, Gwalior and 

Ahamadabad. Our group stood first and I got endless certificates. Probably 

because I became introverted in my later years, my habit was lost. It was in 

my 

tenth class that a teacher asked me to start writing. I also began body building 

that year. My first article ‘The street I live in’ was published in the school 

magazine in 1975.

 In my second year a friend of mine called Pradeep taught me accounts. 

Unfortunately he is no more now. In 1970 I went to Delhi and stayed there for 

a 

couple of days. Every five years we used to visit south, stay in Triplicane in 

Chennai in my aunt’s house and visit other places. My Aunt and uncle are 

both 

no more. So is the uncle who used to take me to restaurants. In my second 

year I went to Chennai after five years.    

Despite my studying hard, I managed to get only 57 percent. In my final exam 

I 

worked on my costing subject, and got 65 percent after working very very 

hard. 

Thus I cleared my graduation with first class on 13th May 1978. It was my 

friend Vincent’s birthday too and he treated us all with hot oily snacks in the 48 

degree heat. It made me drink 32 glasses of water in one day.
