In the Hindu epic Mahabharatha the noble Grandsire asked the almighty:

‘’ O lord, kindly don’t consider me egoistic when I say that I remember my past 100 births. Looking at them I can say with certainty that I have not committed any misdemeanor let alone a sin.

But yet here I am writhing in pain while being literally pinned by a bed of arrows shot at me by Arjuna.  

Kindly tell me O lord why this injustice has been hurled on me in your holy presence?

The soul is the repository of a living entity’s karma both past & present. It is the main reservoir where the thoughts, deeds & experiences over time immemorial are stored. Right from the time when the karma cycle of the living entity began, he/she has been thinking, experiencing & executing deeds according to his/her mental & physical development.

All this has been recorded by the soul. Among them some have been exhausted but some have remained as mute recordings waiting to be worked out

This is a warning to all who are interested in self realization. Thoughts that emanate directly on the intelligence level and are transmitted to mind as work-in-progress for further execution actually lead one to haywire.

Intelligence or causal body should not be allowed to act independently.

When intelligence transforms the vibrations from the soul within into thoughts these thoughts when properly executed leads the living entity to spirituality.

The mind level is feelings, and the causal body of intelligence is logic. Logic is placed above feelings because unless the living entity has outgrown emotions he/she cannot begin thinking with his/her intelligence.

There is a saying ‘’ Religion without philosophy is fanaticism & philosophy without religion is mental speculation.’’

Similarly ‘’ Logic without soul searching also known as conscience is demonic or at best callous.’’

The others who are highly placed spiritually, aim at remaining in the astral world and making slow but steady spiritual progress towards the causal world. In any case they do not wish to incarnate in the gross body hence forth.

Once they attain the causal body of intelligence they either try to work out their causal karma and proceed towards self realization or reincarnate into the astral world on specific spiritual missions. In this case too they go back to the causal world immediately after their mission in the astral world is complete.

The souls may remain in various mind level inhabitants working out their individual Karma and progressing towards spiritualism.

In many cases the same souls may have become suitably evolved to be selected to incarnate as saints, monks, sages, Renunciant, spiritual teachers, and god men in the material world.

Those astral mind bodies which are still attracted to the senses are ruled entirely by vibrations emanating directly from the mind.

These souls take special incarnations in a gross body as popular figures, leaders, famous artists, musicians, etc. 

However depending upon their individual karma, these entities have a temporary sojourn in the universe in a gross body. They go back to the mind level of the astral world after their work is over.

However the more evolved among them reach the upper level of astral planets. Here they don an astral body made up of mind.

Even here the body is of two types. There are those who are still attracted to the senses level.

Then there are those which are attracted towards spiritualism and hence turn towards the causal level.

It is said that every soul goes to the Astral planet after death. Here it remains temporarily and when its time is over it comes back to the material world in a new gross body. 

This act is known as rebirth or reincarnation.

In most such cases the souls remain in the lower astral planets inhabited by astral bodies controlled by senses.

Sri Sri Yukteshwara Giri had been living in the Astral body even while he was being entrapped in a gross body.

Whereas demons knowingly abhor and avoid goodness, innocent & otherwise god fearing entities sometimes get victimized by negative energy.

Demonic nature makes a person envious and jealous of others (especially divine people) without any reason, perpetually angry, cunning, selfish, domineering, and always reeking of negative vibes & energy.

Demonic people are far away from God & self realization and can seldom think good of others.

Just as there are these three modes of material nature, there are divine & demonic natures too.

Divine nature pushes the person further up into the spiritual ladder.

Thanks to one’s divine nature he/she remains in a trance where there is a willingness to surrender oneself totally to God, serve him unconditionally, and total acceptance of what comes to him/her unasked.

Those in the Goodness mode may usually be happy living in that mode but it is not at all unusual for many of them to aim higher.

Many who are safely ensconced in the goodness mode dream of honing their intelligence to such an extent that it encourages them to go spiritual.

Similarly some of those in the passion mode get perpetually involved improving their psyche to reach at least the goodness mode within this birth. This is a step above for them in the social ladder.

Those in the ignorance mode, while being scared of slipping further down, actually aim either to remain where they are or to go further up into the passion mode.

Everyone who happens to be in the mode of goodness on an average dreams of rising above this mode because these modes are material and he/she aims of getting into the spiritual mode.

It is not important that one has to meditate in a cave in the mountains to receive self realization. There are numerous instances when living entities have reached liberation even while they were executing their household duties. The reason is that even while doing so they were meditating on the super soul within.

On an average the work executed by the senses through the gross body is born out of messages originating either at the senses or the mind level.

When it is from the senses level it is lusty and sometimes even carnal.

Deeds done by the gross body out of desires for flesh are usually thanks to messages from the senses.

When it is due to messages that originated at the mind level, these actions are done out of feelings.

Actions done out of fear, anger, sorrow, illusion & false ego, are some such examples.
