When there is a predominant rise in atheism and a studied callousness towards religious practices, the lord descends on this earth to protect and favor the godly, helpless and innocent devotees and annihilate the demons in human form. Those who know this transcendental appearance of god, are saved from repeated births and deaths and attain his eternal abode finally.

One who’s mind is steady and he/she devotes himself/herself in devotional work is superior to the idler who renounces every action but whose senses keep delving on material things . Action is better than inaction. One must never ever pretend to be what one is not. Activities done in god consciousness cleanse the heart. Food taken after it has been offered to god first releases the ultimate eater of sin.

For the introspective sage, the time of awakening into godliness is dawn whether it is in the day or night. Incessant flow of desires does not perturb such a person. A god conscious person’s material desires are satiated by god himself.

One who religiously follows the religious principles of freedom becomes free from attachments and aversions. When situated in such divine consciousness one’s intelligence becomes steady. Only when one is in divine consciousness does one get peace and bliss. When a person is not in god consciousness one is swept away by one’s senses.

While contemplating on the objects of senses a desire for them arises. This desire crystallizes into lust. When lust becomes too strong it gives birth to fear, doubt, jealousy and anger. These bad feelings result in greed, avarice and illusion. Finally these all join together and fill the entity who identifies with the gross body with false ego. This results in bewilderment and loss of intelligence.

A sage of steady mind is not perturbed by the happiness and miseries of the material world. He withdraws his/her senses from sense objects and goes within. He/she does not allow them to run free. As the taste of god consciousness is far more superior the devotee finds it easier to eschew the inferior material and, carnal pleasures. 

One can control the senses by concentrating only on mind. As both form part of the subtle body, the devotee should henceforth feel only from the mind and not allow senses to rule the gross body.

Karna was a Kshatriya (passion mode) brought up by a Sudra(ignorance mode). If only Karna had been honest enough to identify himself as a Sudra, to hide his own Kshatriya birth lord Parasurama would have appreciated this.

Instead Karna claimed to be a Brahmin (goodness mode) of which he knew nothing, and was promptly caught in a lie

1.  Lord Parasurama abstained from teaching martial arts to the Ksatriyas. Did that mean that he was ready to teach the Brahimns, Vaisyas and Sudras? If it was so it explains why he cursed Karna.

Lord Parasurama was a renunciant by then and so he could see through Karna’s blatant lie. If only Karna had said that he was a vaisya or sudra, lord Parasurama would not only have taught him but also considered him his favorite student. Lord Parasurama took offence to Karna calling himself a Brahmin. There is a valid reason behind this.

Here lies the zinger:

1.  Lord Parasurama vowed never to teach his form of martial arts to ksatriyas under the pretext that they will misuse it to torment innocent folks. If so then why did he teach Bhisma a kshatriya? Was it because he differentiated between good and bad kshatrias?

We all know that his maternal uncles and maternal grandfather killed his father & seven brothers and tied up the mother out of sheer ire at her marrying a brahmin.

The poor lady called for his help 21 times and hence lord Prasurama killed all kshatrias on earth 21 times.

The case of lord Parasurama is quite intriguing as well as interesting. Lord Parasurama who is considered to be an incarnation of god was born to a Brahmin father and a Kshatriya mother, as their eighth son. This makes him half from the mode of goodness and half from the mode of passion. However he ultimately became a renunciant who is  above the three modes of material nature.

Devotional service rids one of good as well as bad reactions of the work even in life. The wise take to such devotional service to escape repeated births and deaths. The ignorant people try to adjust themselves to the fruits of action and get entangled in material life. One who is a devotee of god and is fully surrendered to him has all the good qualities of sages. Those people are happy and blissful, having realized the self.

A Brahmin cannot be a soldier, A kshatriya should not be a business man, a vaisya should not be a sweeper, a sudra should not become a preacher and so on.

A person must conscientiously do what he/she is cut out for even if he/she may not be an expert in that job. At the same time he/she should not do whatever he/she is not supposed to do howsoever an expert he/she is in it. Dronacharya was a Brahmin expert in martial arts. He could have been a teacher of martial arts but not a soldier.

You have every right to perform your duty, but you have no right to predict what the results of such actions would be. Such action without attachment to results is called yoga. Hence you should neither be attracted to the fruits of action nor towards not doing your duty. One should surrender one self and one’s actions to god.

In other words you will not have to start again from basics in spiritualism after every birth. A person attached to the material world and its trappings of opulence, relations, family etc. cannot become godly. Remember that you have every right to possess these things and control them but you should never ever allow these things to control you.

Even a little advancement in the path of devotion to god is beneficial to the devotee. This progress is actually permanent and is carried forward from birth to birth. If in your present life you have gone to a level in devotion, in the next you will begin from where you left in this birth.

Remember that the soul passes to another birth, after death. If you have realized your true self you should never be bewildered by this fact. The soul can never be destroyed.

This shows that no one escapes the wheels of karma. Mahavtar Babaji constructed a palace in the Himalayas so that Lahiri Mahasaya could enjoy the luxury of living in it and work out that karma. Probably that was Lahiri Mahasaya’s last birth in this gross world.

God told Bhishma ‘Long ago in your hundred and first birth before this you were a very brave but alas a sadistic hunter. You had a very cruel hobby of catching hold of live snakes, throwing them on thorny fences and watching them squirm and die a painful death. As this is your last birth, you have been forced to work out that ancient karma and suffer exactly as those snakes did then.’

Anguished Bhishma cried to god and sought an explanation for his own sorry plight. God told him ‘O noble soul, it is a fact that you have not committed any mistake in the past hundred births. But it is also a fact that this is your last birth and that you will never come back to this gross body again. Hence it is imperative that you work out all your past karma in this world.’

Grandsire Bhishma was quite noble and god loving. But in the end of his long life he ended up on a painful bed of arrows. Not even his own mother or father or loved ones could help him.

The evil do not deserve any compassion. To be kind to them is a sign of weakness. We have to remember that each soul is in the path of endless births and deaths and each soul has its own destiny charted out for it according to its deeds. Hence we do not actually know what is in store for which soul and why.

A dacoit called Ratnakar became Maharishi Valmiki and wrote the Ramayana. A prince called Sidhartha ran away from the lap of luxury and became Lord Buddha. A terrorist wanted by the law escaped and became Sri Aurovindo Ghosh. Swami Vivekananda gave ample trouble to his mother in his childhood because of his unending mischief.

Good is only curious to know what the bad consists of and who are those who have turned against good. In fact many a time good is quite pained when it comes to note that several souls which good considered worthy of love and respect have ultimately proved to be not so noble.

This is the right time to realize that god has not given us the right to fully judge another soul. We are actually incapable of knowing who is worthy in the eyes of god and who is not.

It so happens that whereas the bad is always perturbed by and jealous of the prowess of the good yet the opposite is not true. That is the power of devotion and total surrender to god. Good is never afraid of bad. Bad is only of a nuisance value to good. Even when they hate to accept it bad and evil people involuntarily shudder at the sight of the good godly souls.

Karna is the missing child, and Arjuna is the other one. Lord Krshna is the mother who loves both. Neither the mother(Lord Krshna) nor the child (Karna) will heave a sigh of relief till they meet each other after several twists and turns. By now the kids have failed to recognize each other and have become enemies.

Anything can happen to this innocent lad. It now depends on the kid’s destiny as to what it could henceforth see, what sort of persons it could henceforth meet and how they will handle the kid.

The scared child begins to cry out of fear. The shocked mother does not know what to do. She now has to search for the lost kid while making sure that the other one is safe with her. She gets distraught.

Initially both kids obey their mother. They hold the hands and enjoy the trip to the market with their mother. Wide eyed and innocent they look at the colorful spectacles, shops, people etc.

Suddenly one kid spots some balloon hawker. Extremely enamored by this the kid leaves the mother’s hand and runs after the hawker who totally unaware of this commotion, vanishes into the crowd.

Now the kid is lost.
